So I'm looking to buy a cheap widescreen tv tomorrow

I was looking at a 28"Thomson set for $400, which was my budget

But I've seen a store which sells ex rental/reconditioned widescreen tvs for cheap...

The ones that caught my eye were:

Sanyo 32" $400
Philips 32" $450

Sorry, didn't catch the model numbers

All come with 3 month warranty

What do you think?

I think you should do some basic research on your own and/or at least provide model numbers before you solicit advice.

I agree. Defiantly do you homework before going out and deciding on anything. Research research, research and read LOTS of reviews. A good place to start is www.epinions.com
