 Hi Ecoustics Group,
I have had a series of DVD players in my time and have had to unlock all of them to make them region free. Why manufacturers didn't make all players region free remained a mystery until I did a little research on the Internet. Amongst the flotsam and jetsam of web trash floating around I came across a fantastic site that explained all and unlocked my two players ˇV Toshiba & Samsung models.
If youˇ¦re hunting for a code and are having some difficulty making your player multi-region then check out www.dvdexploder.com Theyˇ¦ve got some really helpful staff on their team that will actually take the time to research a DVD player unlock code for you.
I've been in communication with these guys for a number of months and they donˇ¦t seem to mind answering any and all questions I fire at them regarding the world of DVD players. As I say, a good bunch and spot on service. Cheers DVDExploder!

ROB (JVC HR-XVS28 HACK),
The only way you can unlock a JVC HR-XVS28 DVD Player / VHS combi is by a physical hardware modification made to the machine, by the rear compulink sockets.
The only place you`ll find this on the net is this link - www.multiregionupgrades.com (under the JVC section), although your local specialist JVC UK authorised dealer may be able to do it for you for a small fee |

The only way this (and all other current Sony models) can be unlocked, is by a special set of service codes, transmitted from a suitable device.
YOU CANNOT HACK THIS OR ANY OTHER SONY MODEL BY COES ENTERED BY ITS ONW HANDSET !!!!
You will can find the proceedure listed at www.avforums.com, where you will need either a Laptop with IR, a PDA, a Pronto, or a OFA remote.
If you do NOT have any of these devices, then you can obtain a special chipped service remote pre-programed with the factory codes from either a specialist Sony center, or a modification specialist website such as www.multiregionupgrades.com or www.dvdchips.com.
THERE IS NO OTHER WAY WHATSOEVER TO MOD THESE MACHINES, SO DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE OTHER POSTS HERE CLAIMING OTHERWISE! |

The only way this is by a firmware upgrade disc, available from modification dealers which you will find mentioned in these threads, newsgroups, or a google search.
YOU CANNOT HACK THIS BY CODES ENTERED BY ITS OWN HANDSET !!!!

Hi Folks, I am not looking to change region on my Sanyo DWM-395. Ever since the grand kids played with it the tray will not open. I just get LOC message on the control panel when I push the open/close on the remote. I have tried the push power on push left push left push enter push play, it does not work. Can anyone help?

Hiya. Looking for an unlock for my Funai player. The only people that are helping me at the moment are the superb research team at www.dvdexploder.com/dvdcodes
They've helped me with some really tricky machines in the past, buy I thought I'd post here for a quick fix. I hope to have an answer from the Exploder team soon, so I'll post their results, as I've done previously, when they get in touch. Funai are driving me maaaaaad!

I've read I can make my dvd player region free w/ hack codes to copy disc to vhs. If anyone has info on this subject it would be a HUGE help and I would be so very grateful since this has been driving me insane for 2 days now.
I did find a website that wants to charge $5 for the codes, if infact this works.

To the unsuspecting... I would draw your attention to all the postings of Andy_man. In all his postings (of which there are many) he keeps singing the praises of a particular provider - anyone would think he works for them !! I know what it is to write a posting in appreciation but the number of his postings makes it look like lots of different people are recommending this supplier and it's one and the same person every time !!!!! That sort of thing always rings alarm bells with me.
You can in fact buy a new multi-region player for the same cost as one of the DIY upgrades in question....!!!!!! For anyone keen on making use of their current player and upgrading it I suggest contacting the manufacturer (eg via their website) in the first instance as they may well be able to point you in the best (and cheapest) direction......
