One can endlessly debate the benefits and detriments of plasma, DLP, LCD and JVC D-ILa. However in terms of answering the relatively simple question of recreating the giant screen in-commercial theater experience at very low cost, the recently introduced Panasonic PT-AE700U LCD front projector is clearly a breakout product

Consider that last quarter nearly 1 in 5 projectors being sold per the Projector Central stats show the AE700U the top seller

The old rules simply don't apply, it no longer takes $20 to $30,000 to produce top quality pictures at home as it did several years ago via high end large CRT units, now instead maybe 2 to 3k, and that is with screen included.

"Moore's Law" dictates that the costs of chips keep dropping and performance keeps improving
The same thing that happened to computers a decade or so back is now happening to in-home theaters, meaning nearly anyone can now afford it
