Do any of you have horror stories about Panasonic?

Looking for something relitively inexpensive but effective.

Thoughts on this: http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/vModelDetail?displayTab=O&st oreId=11251&catalogId=11005&itemId=71464&catGroupId=11253&modelNo=PT-47X54&surfM odel=PT-47X54

Thanks!

Panasonic tends to have better quality than most, however this is a low cost/bargain unit and you s/b able to get this at an extremely low price at Circuit City -if you avoid their nonsensical extended warranties their salespeople are brainwashed to push

PANASONIC itself offers a full one year in-home parts and labor warranty on this set -something I guarantee you will probably be either downplayed/distorted/ or misrepresented by CC sales staff under ENORMOUS pressure to add a huge PSP contract on this set

This set has HDMI meaning it would work great for example with state of the art Comcast provided Motorola combination HI DEF CABLE BOX/HD duel tuner DVR's (digital video hard drive hi def recorders) with DVI for easy connection to the HDMI input on this set - or with state of the art Satellite hi def boxes

Last yr 100% of Circuit City's net operating profit came from these extended warranties, per Business Week Article in Dec 2004
