Initially I had planned to buy a Samsung CRT, but I found out it did those horrible grey bars in 4:3 ratio mode. Just turned me off completely.

My intention is to use the TV mainly for DVD and Xbox gaming.

I've looked everywhere for reviews on the LG RU-44SZ80L (LCD 44") and RU-44SZ61D (DLP 44"), but couldn't find anything.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these models, or LG in general? Would you recommend either one for DVD and gaming (with component cables).

I can't afford the greatest thing, and even the DLP model is about $500 more than I'd like to pay, but I'm still considering it.

From my experience the LCD version of the LG on display was showing vertical banding from a DVD source with component input. Is this expected of rear projection screens? Or is LG just junk overall?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Greg
