how do i know if it is? bought a used sony kv36fv1 from my friend, and he maintains that it is "hdtv ready'" but does not have original documentation.
so how do i tell if it is, "hdtv ready?"

There is no Sony model kv36fv1 but there is a kv36fv15. I must assume this is the proper model code. It is a 36" analog set. Therefore no digital No HD ready.
