I have a Sony high-def TV and just got an LG DVD/VHS player/recorder.

I'm trying to hook up the thing and can't get the TV to operate. (The DVD and VCR play and I can get the TV stations when I manually switch the stations. The LG remote control turns things on and off but won't change channels).

The hookup I am using is:
1. Cable from wall to the DVD/VCR in
2. Progressive scan cables from DVD/VCR to TV (Video 5 is the input that works.)

Any help would be much appreciated.

The VCR has to be hooked to the TV seperate from the DVD.

The DVD/VCR is a combo. I have played around with it enough that I can get it to play except for some reason, the LG DVD/VCR will turn the television on and off but it won't work the volume or the channel thing that goes up and down one number.

So you are trying to operate the TV with the DVD/VCR remote, is that what you're saying?
