Do you need any hardware for your receiver?
Is the autoroll done in the receiver or in your computer?

Need help. I have a Fortec lifetime ultra but there is no CODE option in Channel edit. There are TV and Radio options only. I upload the Al7bar FTA Ultra_050524_273_api(NTSC) but is still not able to see the CODE option. |

I cannot exit language choice screen, everything was working fine until I went to the menu, and now I cannot exit the menu, when I push exit the Fortec show the language choice screen , push exit again and did'nt work (Model Fortec star lifetime ultra), thanks... |

Hey my Lifetime ultra has been flash but all I see is dashes and dashes. I can not get to the menus section. No display to the TV screen. I need help could anyone tell me how to reset it to factory setting. |

hi i was wondering if you guys could help me. my brother was messing with the settings for my fortec star box and somehow we dont have dish network channels anymore. its like canadian channels or something. like all the channels are mixed up. like the ppv channels arent 500 and up..there like 229 and up...and some channels are missing..like cartoon network..can anyone help me fix this? |

Those are NOT new codes for June 4...they are 2 days old from 2 June...keys have NOT changed since then..so U haven't had TV for over 3 days then,since previous key change on 1 June..
Either your post is BOGUS,or U don't watch TV
Also the getkeys.exe and keymaster.exe and autoroll files have been around for months,maybe its time U consider using them...but if your post is BOGUS or U don't watch TV for 3 days at a time,then I guess U wouldn't really need the keys or those files..would you? |

IN fact most sites WILL NOT even post the dishnet keys anymore..they say use an autoroll or keymaster file...AND if U ask for the keys ,then U will be banned from 99% of reputable sites! |

Why is there key 00 and key 01?
Only one is active. I only put the active one in and it usually works? So why 2 sets of keys and do you have to put both keys in? If so in what order?

The round single or oval 2 LNB DTV dish is the simplest to use of all..where so U aim it?...are U serious?,at the sky in the orbit that the satellite(s) U want are located..wheres that?,I dunno...what satellites do U want?...where U live changes the alignment of your dish towards every satellite...I guess there is little common sense used here,in your questions....If U want to shoot at a target,where do U aim?,AT THE TARGET!...will your angle change?,yes if are at different locations..SUGGEST U go to another reputable DSS site that has files and get a satfinder file,then align your dish,once U've decided what TARGET (satellite) U want..then learn how to use the Fortec,and by then almost all channels will NOT be available with your FTA anyway..PEOPLE NEED TO READ BEFORE THEY ASK..THEN USE COMMON SENSE..DO NOT START SOMETHING (HOBBY)BY JUST ASKING BASIC 101 COMMON SENSE QUESTIONS..IF U CAN'T TAKE THE TIME TO USE A LITTLE BRAIN POWER AND THEN READ,THEN DO NOT DO THE HOBBY..I feel like I'm always talking to 4th graders here..maybe I am,who knows! |

I was watching tv on dishnet and the picture
went plank and autoroll started and went to 47%
and got stuck and woun't go any higher. So
I turned of the power and started over again
and autoroll started again and went to 82% still
no picture? So I turned of the power again and
it went to 107% still no picture? So I did this
again and it went to 47% and got stuck on 47%
and I still have on picture.
-Can someone tell me was the trouble IS?
-Did something go wrong with autoroll?

All FTA autorolls,except the coo*lsat released last night, are down...Dish has done a minor ECM..atmega is also working..don't worry,nothing is broken or damaged...BUT new autoroll bins will be needed..
Just enter your keys manually
If you cant get into your menu because your FTA box is frozen downloading the new key, just turn your receiver off, then on, then immediately go into your MENU screen.
Thats it!!
BTW...there are new WORKING Pansat autorolls released Saturday morning at www.hashhu.com and www.al7bar.t k |

LK I'm a new owner of a fortec lifetime ultra. My freind loaded everything on my box and when the autoroller was not working I did everything you said downloaded the new factory software and the 269 autoroll. You suggest we enter in the keys where in the SECA,Viaccess1,Viaccess2, Indeto/Betacrypt or Nagravision. Also is there any difference in 269 and ECM because it came with ECM and now I have the 269autoroll.You entrys are very helpful keep up the good work!!!!!!!! |

hey ahm.... i live in canada ontario and i hav e the fortec star lifetime and i have on it echo 6 or sumthing like taht which is dish net... now everytime i look at the NIMIQ it shows frequencys are good... so i downlaod channels and it gives me the same channels as the dish netwrok... what do i do... do i need to liike turn my dish to the nimiqu?? even if the frequency and stuf is on liek 97% ????? o and also if a channel is it sais BAD CHANNEL or ENCRYPTED what do i do?? |

I was downloading Bin file. It download 11% then it fails. I tried few times and give only 1 or 2%. I checked the cable it seems to be fine since it went up 11%. Any suggestion? |

failed= wrong/bad cable most of the time..use a STRAIGHT DB9 with female ends (NOT null modem with twisted crossover pins)...this usually resolves your downloading problem

Here are a few tips if you are having difficulty flashing: Pay ATTENTION to 9-10-11..
I would advise everyone to read a set up guide before flashing. But, since people have been having some problems, I have revised this to provide more detailed information. But this is not intended to be a substitute.
1. Make sure you use the proper serial cable for your receiver:
Fortec and Pansat use a straight through cable with DB9 females on both ends.
The Blackbird and Pansat 2700 uses null modem (crossover) cable, which crosses over pins 2 and 3.
2, With the power turned off, connect it to your computer and receiver using the serial connector. Use serial port #! if you can.
3. If you do not have a working serial port, you must install one or use a computer that has one.
4. Use the appropriate loader.
5. Select the file. Make sure that it is the correct flash for your receiver.
6. Select the COM port your receiver is connected to. If you do not know, what it is try #1 first.
7. Enter the correct model name and number.
8. Check off the correct function box. Your choices are boot, flash or channel list. To FLASH your receiver you would use FLASH. Most flashes do not require a separate boot; so do not load both separately.
9. Turn on the receiver power from the back switch.
10. As soon as you see the lights flash,very first light -- IMMEDIATELY press download.
11. Wait until it COMPLETES and reboots.
Here is how to recover from the "Night Rider" (flashing lights):
1. Try re-flashing the factory boot/flash again using the below directions. That gives you FTA ONLY. Follow the above procedure.
2. Then, when that works use the latest flash to get the scrambled channels.
3. Download a channel list and/or do a channel scan on each sat.
4. When flashing, be sure to wait not only until is says done. But you need to wait until it reboots and actually goes to a channel number.

Flash Update Fail...
I get this error message no matter what i try. I'm using STB Updater v3.31, Al7bar FTA Ultra_050613_276_api(NTSC).bin file, Fortec Star Lifetime Ultra and an RS232 straight through cable. I've tried on Win98, W2K, and WinXP, none work. I know the cable is good because as soon as i get the error the receiver reboots. Can anyone help with this, i've read the guides and all that stuff, and i'ts supposed to be pretty straight forward. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!! |

Ok. got the new cable [straight through db9 f-f]. still no go, same thing. I've got three different computers with different OS's [XP, W2k, 98], and it's the same thing on all of them.
1. everything turned off - pc-receiver connected
2. power on receiver - wait till it turns on - hit the download button
3. no download progress - just get the message that the update failed and receiver reboots
4. Tried same thing but hiting the send button while ---- is still showing.
5. I Read all the guides and forums on dsscomumity and some forums here. none of the things work.
- I just can't imagine that both cables are bad and that it won't work on either of the three computers. Currently I have Al7bar 2.4 or 2.7 (not sure) firmware on the receiver, and that's how i got it. I'm trying the 269 or 276 fortec bins. Is there any settings that i need to change on my pc? I've done firmware upgrades before, and it's pretty simple, not sure why this thing won't work. How do i check if serial port is installed and how to install one? In device manager under Ports(COM & LPT) I have Communications Port(COM1). < Is this the indication it's installed? Any help is appreciated on this. Thanks!! Enes |

1. power switch of the back OFF.
2. connect rs232 from pc to reciever.
3. turn power switch ON until you see some numbers appear on the front panel.
4. hit the power button of the front of the reciever OFF, the middle button, you will see the time clock appears after 1-2 seconds.
5. now, try your download...note: make sure you point to the file with the right directory and path.
6. wait until you see the "complete" dialog appears, then click OK.
you can't go wrong with this instruction, my friend got it right thru the first time. for me, i have done over 10 times, none has failed.

I've already tried every possible way, and what you just listed (it's all in the how-to guides).
My receiver reboots right before I get the "Flash update failed" error message, and this tells me there's some kind of communication between computer and receiver. I think i'm just going to leave it at that and give up (although i hate to give up). |

Hey I have the same problem flashing my fortec (Flash update fail). I also have a pansat 2500 that i flashed with the same cable and computer. So I know that it's not the cable or the serial port. I also got my fortec receiver about two months ago so maybe we do need a different cable |

Does your receiver reboot when you try to update? So far i've tried on three different computers, so i know serial ports are good. I bought cable as it said in the guide (RS232 f-f DB9 straight through) ... pretty simple, unless i need a different kind of cable. Chris if you figure it out please share... |

Yes my receiver reboots when I try to update but the flash update always fails. I bought the receiver with the software already in it so I'm not sure what exactly was used. I'll try to see if I can find out what the problem is. We both got our receivers around the same time so maybe something was changed. |

chris and enesaga...neither one of U say if U have night rider lights and provide very little info....suggest U downlaod the Ultra boot repair file from dsscommunity. com File share FTA area and fiollow thw instructions...its very simple.. |

LISTEN. MY CABLE IS FINE!!!! I used it to download my pansat. I don't have night rider lights and i have the ultra boot repair but I can't download it because it fails with everything!!! If there is another cable that I should try other then the rs 232 then I would love to here your suggestions. Everything I have works fine for my pansat so I know my cable is fine and so is my port |

here's what others have tried with that flash failed problem...some had luck by switching to com4...others slowed the baud rate...some jtaged it.

If the question has been answered why don't you tell me where to find it. My receiver works fine the only thing I can't do is download the new autoroll. I thought it might have been my receiver but I see there are a few other people with the same problem and it seems we all just recently bought our receivers. I've flashed numerous receivers and never have I come across this problem and everybody else I know can't figure it out either. We're stumped but it's no big deal because dish is going down in the fall so I'll just keep putting the keys in manually |

You just need to go and get the usb-db9 cable and you should be good to go. I got the cable at radio shack, plugged it in, and it worked the first time. Thanks you guys for all the help!! |

I went and bought the usb db9 cable and it dosen't work. Doesn't even reboot the receiver. Tried on two different computers. Oh well it don't matter, receiver will be useless in two months anyway |

Help....
Everything was running fine but suddenly my receiver went blank. I see full quality and signal but no channels.
I tried new bin with new channel list on my Lifetime Ultra. Did this ever happen to anyone and how to solve it? I rechecked the Key and they are correct.
What do I need to do?
Where can I find changing TP? I lost the file with changes.

How can I watch dishnet work on my fortec i scaned on 110 and found around 1000 channels but all of them are scambled i punched a new key and also has very good signal and quality over 90. Please Help..
I have Fortec Ultra Receiver which was working with 110,119 and 61.5 sat. Now I have installed A Super Dish that gets me 110,119 and 121 Sat. through DP34 Switch. I have 94% strong signal and can get the EPG info when I go to a Channel. But the working Channels (Not the Nagra) now says 'Bad or Scrambled..' Is there any thing I need to change when I install a Super dish instead the normal Dish 500 or Dish 300.Please help as I have no TV...

I don't know if this helps, but a while ago I replaced my dish with a new oval 3 lnb dish and got the same scrambled channels. Went back to the single lnb and all was well again. I was told by someone to try three seperate dishes thru the switch. |

GUY'S I HAVE A FORTEC ULTRA REICIEVER. RECENTLY I SWITCHED MY SATALITE FROM BELL TO DISHNET. AFTER GETTIN A GOOD SIGNAL I DID A SATALITE SEARCH AND SO ON AND GOT THE CHANELS. BUT NOW MY RECIEVER IS ON A CONTINUIS DOWNLOAD. IT GETS TO ABOUT 30 PERCENT AND FREEZES UP ON ME. IS THERE ANYONE THAT CAN HELP ME OH BY THE WAY I HAVE THE AUTO ROLL ON THIS REICEVER. |
