So what is the opinion of the masses. I am going to be buying a DVD Recorder soon. I keep reading about this Blu-ray technology. Should I buy a "not so top of the line" recorder and prepare to buy a blu-ray recorder in the next few years or, should I go ahead an buy the latest DVD recorder that is not blu-ray? This new Panasonic DMR-E500 looks very appealing. I believe it will be available by Christmas. Just wanted to get the feel of the crowd. As far as i can tell the blu-ray is more focused toward HDTV which is not going to be full blown for probably 5 more years. What do you think?

The format they use now has been so widely accepted that introducing something new now might be a hard sell, especially when the price is sure to be considerably more. I wouldn't wait myself, you may be waiting a long time to get something for a reasonable price. Just my humble opinion on the subject.
