what the hell do these mean on my samsung 5085? the manual mentions them but doesn't tell me what they do

They change the color balance (temperature) settings on the set, cool leans more to blue/green, warm leans more to red/yellow (laymans view).

If you are curious about the corresponding color temps, the CIE chromaticity coordinates for those modes in the set's service menu correspond to the following:

Cool2 12750K
Cool1 11200K
Normal 9700K
Warm1 8500K
Warm2 7200K

No info on how they actually measure though.
