REGION FREE METHODS FOR : Wharfedale

 

MODEL(S) : METHOD : CONFIRMED?
DVD-750 1.  Turn the player on.
2.  Open the disc tray.
3.  Press 0, 1, 2, 3, PLAY.
4.  The player should be region-free.

(old firmware)
Multi-region:

1.  Press OPEN/CLOSE, ZOOM, A-B, UP, LEFT, DOWN, RIGHT on the remote control.
2.  The words REGION FREE should briefly appear on the screen to confirm success.
3.  If the words do not appear, press STEP, PREV, NEXT.  The message should then appear.
4.  STEP is called PAUSE on some remotes.

Return to region 2:

1.  Open the disc tray.
2.  Press 1, 1, 1, 1, 2 on the remote control.
3.  The words REGION 2 should briefly appear to confirm success.

Multi-region:

1. When open, the drive tray can sometimes obscure the IR sensor, be careful to position your remote in direct line of sight with the sensor whilst attempting this.
2. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on the remote to open the drive tray.
3. Press STEP, PREV, NEXT on the remote control.
4. The words REGION FREE should briefly appear on the screen to confirm success.

Specific region:

1. When open, the drive tray can sometimes obscure the IR sensor, be careful to position your remote in direct line of sight with the sensor whilst attempting this.
2. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on the remote to open the drive tray.
3. Press 0, 7, 5, 0 on the remote control.
4. Press 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2, etc.
5. The word REGION and the number selected should briefly appear on the screen to confirm success.

Return player to region 2, restting back to factory defaults:

1. When open, the drive tray can sometimes obscure the IR sensor, be careful to position your remote in direct line of sight with the sensor whilst attempting this.
2. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on the remote to open the drive tray.
3. Press SLOW, PREV, NEXT on the remote control.
4. The drive tray should close and the player should now return to its factory default settings.

M5 1. Press SETUP, 6, 2, 8, 3, 6 on the remote control.
2. You should now be in the Factory Menu, where you can select either ALL for region-free, or a specific region.

M3 1. Switch off machine from front panel.
2. Switch player back on and open drawer from front panel.
3. Using the remote control, key in the following: 4, 9, 5, 4, 0 (You may need to perform this step quicker if this doesn't work as expected ).
4. Version will then appear on the menu.
5. Scroll down, select version by pressing play on remote.
6. Press right arrow key on remote to highlight region, use left/right arrows to select region 0.
7. From this menu you can also select VCD & HDCD playback.
8. Press setup button on remote to getback to main screen.
9. Close drawer on player, power off and back on again.

Another method:

1. Press the Open button on the front of the player to open the drive tray.
2. Press the Setup button on your remote control.
3. Using your remote control, press the buttons 4, 9, 5, 4 and 0, in order, one at a time.
NB: You may need to perform this step quicker if this doesn't work as expected.
4. The onscreen display will display the word Version.
5. Press the Play button on your remote control.
6. Press the Right button on your remote control to highlight the currently selected region number.
7. Using the Left and Right buttons on your remote control, you can alter the region to 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2, and so on, or 0 for multi-region playback.
8. You can also enable VCD and HDCD playback from this menu.
9. Press the Setup button on your remote control.
10. Press the Open button on the front of the player to close the drive tray.
11. Power off your player.
12. Power on your player.

Some models may require this:

1. Press the Open button on the front of the player to open the drive tray.
2. Press the Setup button on your remote control.
3. Using your remote control, press the buttons 8, 8, 8 and 8, one at a time.
4. The onscreen display will display the word Version.
5. Press the Play button on your remote control.
6. Press the Right button on your remote control to highlight the currently selected region number.
7. Using the Left and Right buttons on your remote control, you can alter the region to 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2, and so on, or 0 for multi-region playback.
8. You can also enable VCD, HDCD and possibly even WMA playback from this menu.
9. Press the Setup button on your remote control.

11. Power off your player.
12. Power on your player.

There appears to be yet another revision of this player, so all of the above hacks may not work now.  Apparently a speical remote control can hack the player, but until we discover how to emulate this, then you're stuck!
