How to record from a DVD to the HDD.
I don't know if this really is a hack but I have seen questions about this in several forums and this is one way to do it.

1. First connect a SVHS cable in a loop from SVHS-out to SVHS-in on the back. Then do the same with the left and right audio-out to audio-in with an ordinary stereo cable.
2. Then program a recording from AV1 that lasts as least as long as the movie.
3. Start the movie in the DVD player.

This isn't a direct digital recording to the HDD but the quality is very good, as least as good as a recording from the tv tuner. And the movie is in fact on the HDD and isn't that what we want?

Format HDD (after HDD change):

1. Turn on the player and wait for MENU Screen.
2. Then hold buttons AV and STOP.
3. After 3-4 sec. see you FORMAT on the display.
4. Your standard IDE HDD is formated, clean and ready for recording.

Access the Service Menu:

Press STOP + PAUSE + RECORD on the front.
