1. Ensure the player's tray is closed and has no disc in it.
2. Using the Remote Control, key in the following: 7, 7, Select (or Enter).
3. The secret menu can then be accessed.
4. Macrovision can then be disabled by changing the '1' to a '0' - this can be found on the 2nd page of the hidden menu - other info is also displayed such as firmware etc.

For later versions:

1. Make sure the player has no disc in and the tray is closed.
2. Using the remote control, key in the following: 7, 4, Enter.
3. You should now be able to access the hidden menu.
4. Macrovision can then be disabled by changing the '1' to a '0' - this can be found on the 2nd page of the hidden menu - other info is also displayed such as firmware etc.

NOTE: newer models seem not to have the Macrovision disabling options.

1. Open The player's tray.
2. Using the remote control, key in the following: 8, 4, 2, 1.
3. You should now be in the hidden region menu.
4. You can change region by pressing the Select button and use Region 9 for region free.
5. Close the player's tray.
