my IPOD suposed to hold 500 songs but will only allow me to hold 300. ITUNES says there is no more room left on the IPOD after 300 songs. DO the album pictures that show up next to the song affect the memory space? anybody with the same problem? please help . thankyou.

yes, album art will affect usable storage space. Also, the compression rate that you are storing the songs at will effect the capacity of the iPod. The higher the compression rate, the lower the number of songs it will hold. The flipside to this is that with the higher bitrate you get a much better sound quality.

I myself use apple's 128kb AAC encoder for most of my music. the sound quality to size relationship is great. For my music that I want to listen to more critically on the go, I turn the bitrate up to 320kb.
