im buying a marantz 7400 rec. looking at snell xa60s or the B&W 703s any opinions- my living room has hardwood floors

Both are good speakers - a matter of taste. Try to audition them at home - make sure no re-stocking fee, and go with the one that sounds the best to you. You might want to put a rug under the speakers, and have nothing in between them, like a big TV, for better sound. Have you heard onkyo 800 and above? I like their smooth non-fatiguing sound. Rich and pleasantly clear. Won receiver of the year in secrets of HomeTheatre for under 1k. Might want to hear it. www.ecost.com has good price on ts-xr800 refurb. |

I really like your idea of the Marantz 7400 with Snells. That's the best combo of products mentioned IMO. |

I went in a little bit different direction I purchased the Snell xa60s with the marantz 7300 and then upgraded and added an anthem amp (mca20)- the sound is great
