I just ordered the Infinity Entra Point 5 HTS System from Crutchfield to use with my Yamaha HTR-5640 that I just bought. It was between the JBL SCS160 and the Harmon Kardon HKTS 12, and I went with the Infinity. Now I have found some not so favorable reviews of the Entras and am starting to panic. Does anyone have these speakers? Can you tell me about the quality. Thanks!

If you can cancel it, there are better out there, but if not, then you can listen to them for a few years and then upgrade to a nicer receiver and speakers if you want more.

They will sound better than all in one HT packages for not much more. It matches the receiver in quality, so don't panic - not healthy for you.

Sorry to be a d!ck man, but you get what you pay for. I paid a little less for my USED subwoofer, then you payed for that whole system (5 speakers and a subwoofer).

My point is, you can't expect these speakers to sound amazing at that price.

I am sure you will be happy with the setup.

BTW, can give me the links for the reviews? I have read a lot of reviews on the older Infinity Interlude speakers and they were all great. Home Theater magazine said the bookshelf IL-10 speakers were one of the best sounding speakers for the price, $600 list.

I totally agree you get what you pay for. It sucks having a budget! I tried to find the links but I couldn't. They were user comments, not official reviews. I cancelled the order, Crutchfield hadn't even processed yet. So back my research.

I am glad you were able to cancel it. These will sound better - quite acceptable sound even for $250 - Cambridge sound got great reviews by the pros - as good as Bose (if not better) for a lot less.

Stereo Review said they were the best value in speakers in America, and the price has come down even further. I have them on my computer, and are fun sounding - clear pleasant metallic sound (neodymiun magnet) - doesn't sound like an entry level speaker.

This one won award as a best value - if you can get it for under $600, it would be a good deal - bigger speaker if your room is big.

or

2 sets of these for the front and back:

And a sub:

This is a little over your budget, but sounds sweet - mates well with your receiver (if you are not returning the receiver as well). If you are, then I would recommend Panasonic sa-xr45 ($300) :

Yamaha and Athena sound good together - had me dancing for an hour - sounds good for music too.

$500 (or a bit more) buys a lot of speakers these days if you are choosy. These will sound surprisingly enjoyable.
