My NAD C521iBEE when playing CD produces small but audible mechanical sound (guess should be from the motor). I can hear it when I turn the volume down and move my ear near the player, or in the quiet midnight. I would want to know is this a normal side effect from any CD player or it is just a bad 'feature' from NAD CD player?

Thank you for the reply in advance and please pardon my poor English as I'm a non-native English speaker.

Mine does that a little bit too and it's only noticeable at very low levels or like you say in the quiet midnight. I don't consider it an issue as long as it doesn't interfere with the performance like the low cost dvd player I used to own. I don't think players in this price range have transports or heavy duty chassis to allow totally silent operation. My high end dvd player on the other hand is totally silent. Silence costs!

Many cd players have that - I wouldn't worry about it, unless you do a lot of quiet listening and it really bothers you.

There are ones that are more silent - if you must have one.
