Those of you looking for manuals for devices other than recievers may have better luck posting your request in the appropriate board. You have a better chance that way than looking on Sony's site. Sony would rather sell you a manual for $20 than to allow you to download for free.
If you would like to order your manuals you can check out 1-800-REMOTES. They should have your manual, factory remote control or parts for most devices. |

I'm not sure if anyone else had this problem with their Sony TC-WR565 decks, but mine is being stupid. I think the motor driver ic has failed because the motor isn't doing what it's supposed to. The heads either jam, won't play or won't stop, making the tape stuck inside the unit. If I manage to make it fast forward or fast rewind, it hardly goes fast at all. I'm thinking because the driver might be bad, the motor doesn't have enough umph to stop or play tapes properly. This is the second Sony dual well I've owned that's failed. Can someone help me? |

Yes, Jami Sue, Sony wants you to buy a new stereo, not get the best out of the one you already have.

Those pages plus some patience and common sense might be better than a manual.
Now for the rant.
If you bought new and the box didn't contain a manual, return the whole thing and demand your money back. Some retailers are good at losing manuals, cables, antennas and other components. If you do not have the manual, you probably don't even have the packing list.
Setting up a HT receiver, like programming and setting a VHS tape machine or mobile phone, is complicated. It requires clear and detailed instructions. These should be specific to the brand and model, and general enought to explain the principles of what you are doing.
You should also be able to read the instructions in a language you understand. Even for new and out-of the box, Sony provides manuals only in the language of the country where the retailer was located. Often you don't find this out until you get the thing home, and the language may be different from the one on the box. I've been through all this with a Sony TV and Sony VHS player.
Many purchasers will be first-time users. They need an intelligible introduction to the whole subject, as well as guide to what the item will do.
Making pdf files available would cost Sony nothing. The manuals are produced on computer anyway.
Availability of manuals says a lot about Sony's attitude to customers. Sony does not want informed and satisfied users of its products. It wants your money.

Nokia satellite receiver.
Casio wristwatch.
NAD AV receiver.
Siemens mobile phone.
If they can do it...

Looks as though Sony is not really into customers support, as I have tried to get a pdf manual for my CDP-297 from them and they do want to charge. Does anyone know any site that has these manuals?
I tried the ones listed above and they do not have manuals for CD players, please help. |
