hello all,
i currently have only two main speakers (athena as-f1). i'm looking to upgrade to multi-channel for movies. can anyone pls share their experience with having bookshelf speakers as surround speakers. is it an overkill to have bookshelf speakers as surrounds, i mean are the bookshelf's underutilized in surround mode or does it sound really good?? also can anyone tell me how the athena's as-r1's sound as surround speakers. the local bb didn't have them hooked up.:-(

thanks.

Bookshelf speakers as surrounds are as common as sunshine in Florida. Many in not most speaker manufacturers offer bookshelves as part of surround systems. I prefer a direct radiator as a surround as I listen to music dvds more and more and they work better for this than a bipolar or dipolar. They also work great for movies. If you like your Athena's then fill out the rest of your system with the same and you'll be very happy.
