Hi,

I have a bi-amp system using an arcam alpha 8 and an 8P power amp and KEF speakers. It was working OK before I moved house but now after I hooked it all up again in the new place the power amp makes a horrendous noise at max volume and I have to switch it off again. This is probably an obvious question but what could be causing this? Is it simply broken or is there something obvious I can try? And if it is busted, is there a guide somewhere that explains how I can rewire my bi-wire speakers with just the one amp?

cheers
mike

The amp needs to be serviced. There should be directions in the owner's manual for your speakers on how to uni-wire your speakers. + to + and - to -.

arcam have the best customer support in the industry... they'll fix your amp at little cost...

biwiring nearly always sounds wrong anyway... just connect a bit of cable to both positives and another to both negatives and bobs yer auntie - single wired speakers.
