I just purchased a Cerwin Vega 8 inch powered sub and have it connected to a Pioneer VSX-D510 receiver. I used the LFE output on the receiver and used a Acoustic Research sub cable. Then I used a splitter to run the signal into the L and R inputs on the sub. Is this the best way to do this? There is a humming sound coming from the sub even when the reciever is turned off. Is this normal for all powered subs, or is something wrong with this one. Thanks for the help.

I'm having the same problem with a Yamaha HTR-5540.

The Sub-woofer hums only if I try to connect an RCA audio cable but it has no problems with just an optical connection.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks.
