I have an onkyo tx-sr500 and have set-up the 5 speakers as instructed...and all workk when I run the test...but when I listen to music or watch tv only the front and rear left speakers work...does anyone have any idea of how to configure or fix this problem?

On the 500,

since most tv is broadcast in stereo, you get the front left and right speakers. Try using the ProLogic II surround setting to see if that is to your liking.

Also, try using the different DSP modes. I think that receiver has a Theater Dimentional (TD) setting that gives a boost to stereo to make it more surround. Also try "ALL STEREO" which is a dsp mode that sends the tv audio through all the channels.

Hope that helps
