New to the A/V world, and ran 12 gauge speaker wire in my living room for a 5.1 surround sound set-up with a subwoofer. Unfortunately, I didn't realize ahead of time that the subwoofer does not use speaker wire, but instead it is a shielded cable with a RCA termination. I want to hook-up my subwoofer to my new Denon 3310 receiver, but I don't want to reopen the walls to run the cable. Can I terminate the speaker wire that I ran for the subwoofer with a RCA jack? How will this affect performance? The receiver? Should I even bother? |

. You can either try reterminating the cable or use it as a pull wire for new. Interconnect should be shielded to minimize noise pick up. You might pick up AC noise through speaker cable used as interconnect but most radio frequencies would be above the filters of your subwoofer. . |
