I have been looking at some Dual 1229's and 1019's on ebay. It seems the general consensus is that the 1229 is the preferred one of the two. What are the differences between the 2 turntables? What would be a good cartridge to pair up with the 1229 (or the 1019 for that matter)?

.

The 12 series was the later and fancier table. The main difference you should notice is the tonearm on either table. Cartridges that are ideal for one would not really be ideal for the other due to the change in mass and compliance between the two arms. Anyone you buy from should be able to give guidance as to which cartridges would be best suited to either arm. There is some overlap but naming the cartrtidges that would be suitable for both arms isn't something that's do-able on a forum. Talk to a good cartridge retailer.
