First off, thank you all for the help you provided my last session. I was completely oblivious to the phono world and this place helped out immensely. I have one quick question. For some reason, I am under the impression that it is the proper way to store records by taking out the entire paper sleeve from the cardboard sleeve before removing the record. Thus, when I store most of my records the cardboard sleeve could form a 'C' shape with the opening on the right, and the paper sleeve could form a 'U' shape. This forces me to take out the paper sleeve before I remove the record. I hope this makes sense. Is this correct? Incorrect? Overkill? Thank you. |

. The inner sleeve should have its opening to the top which provides less opportunity for dust to make its way to the disc. . |

And less chance for you to pick up the album and have the disc 'roll' out onto the floor |

Or fall out inadvertantly, as I pass the album to by bro across the kitchen table. Smash goes Ziggy Stardust. Sigh. Sweep. |

A bit obsessive compulsive... I have the opening of the sleeve facing up (as Jan said), and the outer plastic sleeve's opening on the opposite side of the cardboard opening. I also replace the inner sleeves with Mobile Fidelity plastic inner sleeves. Far less static and dust. |

Seems reasonable on 2 levels, Stu. 1: protection in all manner 2: cannot get at the slab after a few pints, go for cd. |

. I assume the plastic sleeve is loose fitting. Otherwise it should be removed all together. |

. Supposedly the shrinkwrap style plastic continues to shrink over time and can warp the disc even when it is properly stored upright at a less than a 5 degree angle. . |

For what it's worth, I remember reading such info as a youngster and immediately removing the cellophane from all my lp's. The beer and other extracurriculars did far more damage than the shrink wrap. |
