I am trying to sell my Onkyo TX-DS979 it's 5 years old never had an issue. But I do not know how much to ask for it? any idea?

Mike, check the local ads for a compable unit to compare.
The value goes down very quickly.
Alternatively, there may be a retirement home or womens shelter who would be happy to take it from you. Some issue tax receipts.
