I have a Velodyne DLS-5000R connected to a Denon AVR-790.

at low volumes the sub will pick up random noise and come on then turn back off sometimes in the middle of a song.

It will thump when a golfball gets hit in a movie and you can hear a hiss afterwards then the sub clicks off.

If I turn up the volume louder the sub just rumbles for no reason and is very annoying.

How do I make the sub produce a cleaner sound and be more fluid?

I am familiar with 'auto power' features, but I sounds like this one isn't working right? Is the Threshold set correctly on power up/off?
Take the sub to a shop for a checkout?
Also, and I am not familiar with HT setup, is there anything wrong in the setup?
I think you need a fix. The rumble tells me something is really wrong.......
