Interesting. The question in my mind is why anyone would use Dolby Pro Logic with their DVDs and blurays when those formats have the discrete digital audio channels? |

I don't think my wife would go for me adding even more speakers to our already crowded living room. |

I'm not sold on the results but I guess it's just an added feature, especially if you're not using those extra two channels in a 5.1 setup. With the Onkyo receivers, I'm not sure about the 607, but with my 805, I can either use the two surround rear amplifiers to run in 7.1 or alternatively change the settings to have them run the low-frequencies in bi-amping my fronts. This z-feature is another alternative but it seems that it only provides noticeable gain in action movies. Possibly in gaming systems as well. In any case, I'll give Onkyo credit for being another first with leading edge technology in their mainstream receivers. |

But like I said, why would anyone want to use ProLogic which is an analogue surround system? Surely you'd want to use your Dolby TrueHD channels instead? Unless you can sit ProLogic on top of that? Anybody know? |

I have no idea Frank but good question. I'd still like to hear the z-format. |

Dolby Pro Logic IIz can be used in tandem with all audio formats, including DD, DD+, TrueHD, DTS, DTS-HR, and DTS-MA. With proper configuration, DPL IIz is automatic with any audio source in existing 5.1 systems. With existing 7.1 systems, DPL IIz defaults to the surround back speakers unless "...the input source contains the encoded front high channel." See the 607 owner's manual pgs 65 and 66 for this. |

Thanks John. I wish Onkyo would provide a software upgrade for my 805 so I could try it out on it. |

Thanks John. I wish Onkyo would provide a software upgrade for my 805 so I could try it out on it. I don't know...could be more than a simple software upgrade. I any case, judging from the Sound and Vision review, this front height effect doesn't sound like a big deal. How many pages ARE IN this NASA proprietory manual?!? Not that many. After all, some consider the 607 an entry level piece. The manual for the $7000 Pioneer Elite SC-09TX has 160 pages. |

I know, just messing with Nuck. I would seriously like to compile a small coffee table book 'The Wit and Wisdom of Nuck'. Anyone want to help with publishing costs, for a piece of the action? |

Talk about a slow day... Great read, right up there with Great French military last stands of the 20th century, lowfat, lowcal Italian meals in minutes, Mormon drinking songs, and pork rub recipes from Muhommad's pantry. |

With the hours I keep, how could I possibly drink too early? You guys might have CLOSED a few bars in your time, but REAL MEN OPEN bars. Besides, the sun is over the yard arm somewhere at ANY time. |
