I am getting rid of my old Sony ps-lx 295 but wanted to be able to give it to someone who can use it. I thought that everything worked well, but when I ran it today I could hear the sound coming from the needle, but it wasn't transferring to the receiver. I know that the preamp still works...The stylus is old, although there is still a tip on it, but it looks bent. Would that affect why the sound isn't travelling, like that it isn't making a connection? I don't want to spend 25$ on getting a new stylus for something I am just going to be giving away. |

ja, without replacing the stylus, you will never know. If the thing is worth giving away as a fine gesture, then it is worth the investment, I figgur. |

You should get SOME sound. If there's no sound coming from the deck at all, it could be the cartridge (which the stylus is plugged into) or the cables from cartridge to plugs are broken. |
