. "Under-polluted" http://www.huffingtonpost.com/max-blumenthal/lawrence-summers-africa-i_b_141706. html No political smears, please. This just drew my attention when I heard it. I don't know whether to laugh or bang my head against the wall. .

I don't know whether to laugh or bang my head against the wall. Sadly, neither will prevent his continued existence. Amazing! |

That's just crazy. Goes to show that people often are promoted to their level of incompetence. I like this retort from the Brazilian Secretary of the Environment "Your reasoning is perfectly logical but totally insane". LOL. |

. I suggest everyone read the comments at the end of the page, you'll see this was very likely taken out of context. I am taking no position on Summers, just his choice of words irregardless of whether they are whimsical or serious. It would seem this should rank among the best of the many oxymorons that come from governmental writings. . |

Granted, it may have been out of context. But there's an old saying: "Where there's smoke . . ." |

. Big D has become a non-smoking city where public buildings are concerned. So, in Dallas the end to that sentence would be, "Where there's smoke ... there's a bunch of ninnies standing out in terrible weather getting their nicotine fix." . |

Ottawa is a non-smoking city too, only we have ninnies getting their nicotine fix in -30 degree weather, usually in gaggle huddling by the door, so you have to run a gauntlet of smoke to get in or out. |

Perhaps the comment was somewhat tongue in cheek...context is everything. I never noticed before but I think South America is somewhat "over-forested". |

Nobody laughs at people huddled together outside smoking a joint... I think we can send the leftovers from nuking the whales away to South America. |

. "Nobody laughs at people huddled together outside smoking a joint... " Eh, sure we do. We do it when we're the ones inside where it's warm, cool, dry or well lighted. Besides, who would be afraid of somebody threatening you while they're coughing up a lung? . |
