This has got to be easily, one of the most beautiful looking amps I have seen. And Cary, as it is, makes very nice equipment already. Tubes, 5 watts a channel, but my interest in this beauty is as a headphone amplifier. http://www.hometheaterreview.com/av-news/2008-home-theater-news/headphone-news/c ary_audio_designs_new_xciter_headphone_integrated_amp001999.php |

Yep. Next up: "The Xciter integrated amplifier is the first in a series of products to come under the Xciter name. The next Xciter is the matching D/A (Digital/Analog) USB Converter." |

Somewhat more modest than the Cary, I think. |

For sure. We were talking about the Glow amp, which the consensus was that it was not a "good" 5 watt tube amp. |

Looks like it should be in a museum, Nuck. How do you think it would sound? |

If properly redone, which it seems at first glance, I would take that unit over the XCite, but thats without hearing. The preamp might need the same treatment, but without putting it on a test bench, who knows? A good hobby tech could rewire the pre, and you could have a very good little setup with 8-10 watts. If you have 1500 to kick around. I am partial to EL34 amps, you see. While push-pull, the EL34 based units sound very sweet, and a tube roll can make it sound mushy sweet or give the amp a slight edge, but just slight. |

Yes, it will be. I`m gonna check today, to see if I have any dealers here in New York. I need to hear this unit. |
