Hey T.W. you gonna stay around awhile this time? How's the system going. The Swan's making some roots...afterall they're like oak tree..ain't nothing moving those fellas. Still driving them with Bada power or have you moved to match?
Im around George, yep the Bada setup is quite awsome with the F5F's the Bada gear has broken in now,it sounds very close to the Pass and Plinius amps, for thousands less you cant beat that.
Not sure where else to post this, but maybe here's a good place...
According to a PMC guy on Audio Circle, MDF is now banned in England due to its toxicity. Not sure how long this has been in effect. Maybe the rest of Europe will follow suit?
I'm assuming that UK made MDF speakers will all be upgraded, and the old models will probably be sold for dirt cheap. If the rest of Europe bans it, the same will probably happen with their speakers.
MDF Being banned? Sh!t my wife just bought another IKEA Expedite, this time a 4X4 for my kit room. I have MDF under a lot of my gear. This is all making me very, very, nervous.
"Also improved is the cabinet material - MDF is banned in England becuase of its toxicity. We now use Medite, made in the same fashion as paper, it is much more dense. This combined with our new cabinet construction method our the MB2i's bass response is improved remarkably. This is a generational improvement over your MB1's..."
They switched over to Medite. Not sure what everyone else is going to do/has done.
Arts new to the club but its better late than never,Im the original Wharfedale fan,Danman was to I've had my Diamond 8.1's since 2000.I have also owned the 8.3's,8.4's,Evo 20's,Evo 40's,9.4's,9.5's,now 9.1's Evo2 10's will be here next week also next month 2 pair of 9.0's 2 SW150's Diamond center. My Reference by July will be the Opus2-M2,yeah im a true Wharfie.lol
I would also add the Swan D2.1SE for $599 thats a lot of speaker with a beautiful finish with a sweet sound and stomping bass down to the upper 20's they have Mani-2 power in the bass for the low low, they are a very grown up sound factor in the looks, build and quality of drivers they are a supreme deal for the serious music lover.
I would also include the Diamond 9.4 they are being discontinued in N.America most places are selling them for $350 which is a amazing deal, but they will drop even more and they will be a stupid deal,I love this speaker,I might get another set myself and finnaly the Evo2 20 they will also be discontinued in N.America, whats up with N.Americans the 2-way floorstander is the most versitale speaker in the world some of the great 1's include the Pro Ac Response 2.5,the Merlins,Kharma 3.2's just to name a few,but anyway when the Evo2 20's go down in price they will be the best speaker deal going I had the 2nd gen Evo 20's and could'nt beleive how low they went with real power, they will be a must buy.
I haven't heard them, but considering how well received the Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 have been here & elsewhere, the 9.0 for $99/pair certainly looks to be a steal!
Unfortunetly from what i read they wont be available until April 30th thats my problem with av123 they never have anything in stock everything over there is a big announcement fiasco instead of delivering like they should be doing, while i really love this little speaker, their not good enough to wait around on while the Wharfedale Diamond 9.1's are around or even the 9.0's or 8.1's which could sell out by then.
I have to agree with you Chris the Diamond 9.0's will be a great deal normally i never say that about a speaker I've never heard, but with all my years of listening and owning Wharfedales I would have to say they will be absolute killer at $99!
This Boston Acoustic Horizon deal seems to come & go from time to time @ Amazon.com, I think it's the best "budget", small-medium room, 5.1 speaker deal going. This package sells for $600 at elsewhere, for $200 w/free shipping, it's a steal.
I agree on the CLS & movies, but these reviews are convincing me they are more than that. As for power, they are rather efficient, but I might fly up to The Fortress of Solitude to listen to them with the Classe gear.
STO has the Evo2-8's on sale again for $299. This price is good until th 16th. The price does not show on their website. They manually correct the price after you purchase. Mine are on the way! Should be here next Wednesday. Anyone want to buy my Diamond 9.1's?
Here is the email and it does not include the 10's. He also told me once these speakers are gone the price is going up because the new US supplier won't match the price he got from the old supplier. True or not who knows. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- BEL CANTO SALE

Although you may be able to win an auction for these for less on Harman's eBay site, $129 for a pair of Infinity Beta 20 from THE NEW circuitcity.com is steal in my book!
I'm of the position that Harman's eBay store is primarily selling NOS. They never sell blems or B-Stock items, and I can't imagine repairing a speaker or receiver to NEW condition, both functionally & cosmetically, repacking it, and then selling that item for a fraction of the MSRP is good business; we've all seen Beta 20s sell for less then $25, less than $20, the same can be said for just about everything they auction on eBay. I just can't figure it out?
To tell you the truth, there are dozens of places to listen to Infinity car speakers, but I don't know of a single showroom in the NYC/Tri-State Area that carries their home speakers.
Did you buy the Mission's on that review or already had them? I have the matchig stands, the 110's(?) that I had the Totems on, and I might keep for the Lings.
Nope, I had the M32i long before I ran across that review. Amazon was closing out Mission speakers at the time, I didn't have much to go on other than instincts. I still miss those Missions, I wish I could have kept them.
Best Buy Insignia speaker for $83.98 (often on sale for less). Got some good reviews. Has rounded back to reduce standing waves. Gold plated speaker connectors.
Older Jamo towers dirt cheap.....never heard them myself but I know they have a following here.
And a full 5.0 setup.
Although the center doesn't look like it matches the towers, so I don't know that that's worth it. Still, the towers on their own seem like a good deal.
I'm new here, and maybe I missed something since this thread was started a while ago, but in response to the original post that price can be beaten pretty easily.
Not sure if these qualify as great deals, but these guys at Saturday audio are really great so anytime I can give a shout out to them I do. The stands are included
I had been trying to get a pair of those, roughly two ...maybe closer to three years ago. Couldn't find a pair.
That was long before my discovering Jamo.
When I read that in this tread, it brought back a bit of that intrigue; regarding those Mission speakers.
But the more I thought about it, the more I realized how happy I am with my Jamo and Wharfedale Opus 2 speakers. I feel like my speaker lineup is thoroughly complete and I very happy with them. I'm content.
The only speaker move I need to make is to sell my Jamo C807 in Dark Apple finish; for a pair of C807 in then Black finish.
The Dark Apple doesn't really work with our new decor. The black finish(which is actually really, really nice) looks beautiful and it will blend in much better with the new decor.
Otherwise, I'm focusing on saving for those Mac amps I mentioned in the other thread.
This forum has always kind of run like that. Mac, Bryston, Naim, Rega, Wharfedale, Totem...there have a been a number of runs on specific brands here....back in the day it was Paradigm, NAD and Rotel. Bet there won't be a Sonneteer and DeVore run.
I don't know. There's nothing like the synergy of the Mac gear.
And the synergy the Macs have with the Wharfedale and Jamo speakers.
I've always put a lot of significance into system synergy. but spent most of my time trying to find good synergy with pieces of gear, from several different manufactors.
But when my buddy brought over his Mac gear.....three years ago and we hooked it up to my Opus 2 speakers; I was thoroughly seduced. Bought the C220 and MC252, immediately.
Then, had to sell those two mac pieces almost as immediately as I bought them, because of the seperation and then divorce.
I kind of vowed to myself to find my way back to those two Mac pieces (C220 and MC252). Never got that out of my mind. Just bided my time till things got better for me.
So now I have the McIntosh C220 back in the fold (it was the least expensive to get, right now).
And my buddy brings over his MC252, MC362 and C220 so we can give the Jamo C803, C807 and C809 a whirl with the Mac gear (and Rega Saturn).
I was blown away by the sweet, musical synergy between these Jamo speakers and the Mac gear.
And a HUGE banner unfolded inside my head, it read....." This is it! You've found the perfect combo for the Jamo and Wharfedale Opus 2. You need look no more."
I truely believe my search for speakers if finished. These Jamo and Opus 2 give me everything I want from my music.
Prior to discovering the Jamo's. I have been searching for speakers for my other two systems in my house.
My Wharfedale Opus 2 are under lock and key and the kids are forbidden (and locked out) from ever going in there without me.
That gorgeous piano black finish was never exposed to and will never be exposed to the rough and tumble antics of my kids (when they were toddlers and now that they're 5 1/2 and 3 and a 1/2).
That whole system is Authorized Personell Only
So needed some speakers that have the sound I love, are high quality; but wouldn't be tragic if one of my kids accidently did something and scratched or chipped the finish. Not to mention, something not as expensive as the Opus 2.
So after several years of revolving speaker tryouts; enter the Jamo's.
Highy quality designs, beautiful, musical sound, quality build; but no real wood veeners or gloss laquers.
No big problem if an accident occurs.
Don't get me wrong. My kids are actually very good kids, very well-mannered and they do respect not my gear; but other people's property.
But ay of you (who may be parents yourselves), kids do sometimes lose their minds, get excited and get all caught up in their little world pf play and fun. And sometimes, they just ain't right in the head
If anything should ever happen to the finish of the Jamo's. I'll just get some black canvas/art paint and carefully match it to the finish of the C80 Series and very carefully brush it over with an artist's painting brush.
No big deal. A lot easier and a whole lot less expensive than trying to get a real wood venner or gloss finish fixed.
I'll throw this up here because I don't want to start a new tread in the Receiver section, The HK3485 for $229 is a pretty good bargain, even better if you make an offer for less.

There are several reasons why this is not such a good deal: 1) BA is not what is used to be. Back in 1991 I paid $750 for a set of bookshelves and a passive sub. The sound is so rich I still use the set today. BA has gone mass market and sells PC speakers. I don't know how good this set is. 2) The set is refurbished. I don't hold that as a sufficient reason not to buy, but it does reduce value. 3) This is ecosts. I have received physically broken items from them under the banner of "refurbished" and "recertified." The combination of those words and ecost is potentially lethal. 4) ecost makes their money on S&H. Add this item to the checkbox and they want to charge you $40 to ship it. Somehow the value diminishes at that point.
For the record, I have seen this package on sale @ Amazon for about $229 NIB, but that was a while back.
The $40 s/h charge from ecost does put a bit of a damper on things, but I still think this represents a good deal.
I'm sorry to see that you've had bad experiences with ecost, but I've bought a number of products from them, most refurbished, with not even a hint of trouble; that being said, let the buyer beware.
While I agree BA is not what it used to be, it is owned by D&M Holdings, parent company of McIntosh, Marantz, Snell, Denon, so I'll assume they still have the means of producing some very good speakers.
Further, I've heard these speakers & I think they're pretty good...for the price. I have also owned a pair of recently discontinued CR77 that were excellent & regret selling, and still own a Receptor Radio which is superb. As for being a computer speaker company, Polk & Klipsch also make computer speakers and still manage to turn out some respectable higher-end gear, so I think it's an unfair charge.
If someone is looking for an out-of-the-box surround sound solution without breaking the bank, I think this is a very good choice.

Screw Boston, screw Harman, screw Jamo and the rest of the overpriced looser gang. I just ordered the Scan Speak RBR set from Madisound for $399 + some hardware + shipping to Ireland = about $530. I'll be using sealed cabinets for these babies and highpass them with 4th order at 80Hz, 'cause I'm using a Dayton Audio Reference sub powered with 500W O Audio amp. The monitors with the cabinets, import duties and all should come to about $900, however, for all that I'll be getting a pair of speakers that would cost me in the 5K range if I were to get them commercially!!! I am excited as f*ck!!!
That BA system can be had at tigerdirect for $149 + $28.25 shipping, it is refurbed though. http://www.tigerdirect.com/cgi-bin/ShoppingCart.asp?prchbcart=y&msg=0&q=1
I just noticed they have a jazzed-up version of the TA2020 called The MUSE Audio M20 EX for $55 + $18 s/h (very confusing...but nice). It has a better ALPS potentiometer & nicer inputs.
WARNING: While the X-SLS (the floorstander version of the X-LS) has received excellent reviews, however, I have read some conerning news regarding AV123. Proceed with caution.
I have some Sanus 30" inch stands that I really like. They are of a dual upright tube configuration and didn't have the option loading. My home made stands I used play sand to load.
