Just need to set my expectations when moving from an HDCD player (NAD C542) to a non-HDCD player (Arcam CD17).

Should I expect the superior Arcam DAC to make up for the loss of HDCD capability when playing an HDCD?

I've played a couple of HDCDs in my new player (Blonde and Blonde and Dave Brubek's Time Out), and found the sound less than inspring. Hopefully it will sound better once I've burned in the new amp and CDP?

Thanks!!

Some HDCD's sound better in my old modified (HDCD) Rotel RCD 971 than they do in my (non HDCD) Apollo. But on balance most cd's in general sound better on the Apollo. I'm guessing you could experience the same thing.
