When I turn on the receiver, after about 2 seconds (rt) it will shut off and then 2 seconds (rt) come back on. Very annoying problem. Anybody heard of this before. Please help as I can't listen to music.

Are you using stranded speaker wire?
Sometimes one small strand of wire could be arching and shorting out your receiver and making it go into "protect" mode. It is possible that there is a defect on the unit. Check your speaker wire as that could aslo be the cause.
