I am about to get a MP3 player. It will play MP3 and WMA files and has a fixed memory of 128Mb. Which file format is best to play back my music please, and which is the best bitrate - I am not a music whizkid and think that FM radio quality is the worst I would like to go.

Many thanks!

both MP3 and WMA offer a variety of bit rates from 22kbps to full CD 320 Kpbs
You can play either and the sound would be comparable. WMA have DRM built in though.

lets say you have an mp3 in 128kbps. wma will have the same quality, but a 64kbps. Also, a file in mp3 will be about 20-30% larger than an wma.
