Bowie's'putting out fire' is a fav, never heard it on vinyl.
SRV got his one song on the LP, opted out of the Glass Spider tour AFTER I got tickets to see it!
Good show, Frampton took over the guitar, but I wanted to see Stevie from the second row...

No change and she had another baby (that she can't afford...egad!). She has a new husband that (other than his INS status) makes up for her sparkling personality by being a stand up guy. They live in the projects in Rainier, Washington by the crazy daughter's choice...she wanted her daughter to have a cultural experience...good grief, her other choice would have been Bellevue...hmm.

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Uncle Charlie And His Dog Teddy

Vinyl

There are so many great cuts on this album beyond "Mr. Bojangles". This LP was in crap shape with mold on it and everything. I almost threw it out. Instead I washed it in the kitchen sink then on the Nitty Gritty. Boy am I glad I did. The cover however will be meeting the recycle bin.

Neil, is that on CD? I have the Live at the Village Vanguard on reissued vinyl and it's wonderful. I have Waltz for Debby (the rest of the Village Vanguard set) reissued with 20-bit transfer on Impulse CD with 'extras' which is a pain, and somehow not as good just because of the track selection.

So when 'working at home' the other day I went through:

On vinyl:
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Tangerine Dream - Tangram (I love this disc)

On CD:
David Byrne - David Byrne
Gotan Project - Lunatico (better than their first)
Belle and Sebastian - The Life Pursuit (not bad but not as good as some of their stuff)

Vinyl from the dollar bins at Jive Time in Seattle...

The Crusaders - Images

Pat Metheny Group - Self Titled Debut

George Benson - Bad Benson

Lots of fun with early pioneers of a lighter jazz...before it became...well I'll just leave it at that.

The Bad Benson Lp is one of those fabulous CTI discs which I love so much. Metheny is on ECM..plenty of real music here to sink your teeth into. The Crusaders album is the typical nice groove from them.

Irvin Mayfield and Ellis Marsalis - Love Songs, Ballads and Standards. Not the best cd in my collection by a long shot but the sentiment behind it is worth the price of admission...read up on it.

Miles From India, Disc 1 - Miles Davis Alumni with Musicians from India. Buy it...that's all I need to say!

Frank, yes it's on 3 CDs. The date was originally released on 2 separate CDs, "Sunday at the Village Vanguard", and "Waltz for Debbie". The box set differs mainly in that it presents the music in the order it was performed, and contains a couple of extra takes.

Frank, I'm thinking I might try and find some of that music on vinyl as well. I am thinking those earlier recordings, particularly in a live setting, may be better reproduced in that medium. I mean they literally hauled a reel-to-reel deck down there and set it on one of the tables on June 25, 1961 and let 'er fly. What you saw was what you got. Something special about that, though.

The late Bill Evans recordings that I've heard (ca 1977 through 1980) sound very good on CD to my ear.

Sounds like a wonderful evening Art.

I ventured to Boat House Row on Kelly Drive in Phila and admired the stars and moon as I worked on some night photography.

No music, but I was able to relax amongs the night sounds of the city.

The Essential Miles Davis (Columbia 2 disc set)

Generally don't like these compilations however I have over 50 Miles titles and couldn't make my mind up this morning and settled on this one. It really has a nice selection of music from his discography.

Now listening to disc 1...and watering the lawn.
