hi i have 6 ohm speakers. and on a potential amp that im buying, there's a switch to select 8 or 4 ohm at the back. hmmm, must I only get 6ohm amps ? |

Should be ok. It's alright for the speakers to be higher than an amps minimum impedance. It's not ok for the speakers to be lower. |

6 ohm speakers will not stay at 6 ohms for any realistic length of time. Some speakers list them as 6 ohms, meaning a nominal impedence. A 6 ohm speaker may go as high as 16 ohms and as low as 4 ohms. See if they have a spec that says minimum inpedence. Some companies are more honest with these specs than others. |

If you select 4 ohms, the current will be limited and you should be safe. |

Correct - if you buy 6-ohm speakers, set your amp to the 4-ohm setting and you'll be fine. |
