Just downloaded WinAmp. The Freebie.
Went thru the help screens and finally converted a couple CD's to FLAC.
WinAmp preserved the metadata, so when I look in the file where I parked the music, I have titles / times/ album title.

The WinAmp player works fine.

On my next 'off cycle' I'll drag the confuser to the stereo, hook up the spdif header, connect an RCA cable and give it a try.

I'll report back. so far, so good.

Any suggestions? Something I'm missing?
Will any-old RCA cable work for testing?

Hey Leo,

Are you using the line out on your PC soundcard?

You'll probably get a much better result using a USB DAC between PC and system.

Thanks for reply, David.
Intent is to use the DAC in my CA840c, running from the coax or optical out on my confuser. I looked thru the motherboard box and there is a header /connector which would be easily plugged in.
Eventually, a (proposed) BR player will use the 2nd DA channel.
