I just put in a Dish satellite HD receiver and am trying to connect via optical cable to my Yamaha RX-V1400 receiver, but no sound. I get the red LED carrier light at the HT receiver end, but no sound. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot? Thanks, Jim |

I would check to make sure that both the satellite box and receiver are set to output and receive signals via the optical port. |

Best I can tell they are. The dish receiver is a VIP211k and the only options seem to be to switch between DD and PCM. The Yamaha is supposed to go to the port with input (Optical, coax, or analog)when the source is selected (I think). If there is a setting, my read of the manual has missed it. |

Jim, the optical will only support 5.1 or DTS, maybe check the input selections of your receiver, don't select pcm, as this does not always work with those receivers. YMMV. Flip through them all and see what works, basically. Just selecing does not take affect until you exit all the menu's, BTW. Sorry if you already knew this. |
