I am looking for some new speakers and i am stuck between these two. I get get them both for fairly cheap. Which one do you think will be better? I am looking for loudness and clarity. |

http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/specs/individual/floorstanding/tsi500/ http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/rf-62.aspx The Klipsch are rated to play 6 dB louder for the same input power; i.e. the Polk need 4 times as much power to play as loud. But I wouldn't base a buying decision on that alone. There's not way you can hear them both? |

I've owned both brands. Based on build quality I'd go with Polk. based on sound quality I'd go with Klipsch. It depends a lot on your source gear, too. |

If you want the system to play loud, pay attention also to room characteristics. Room size and how 'live' it is can influence your speaker decision. |

Hi Nuck, I pop in sometimes to contribute to threads within my league. Rest of the time, I'm just lurking... It seems to be getting quiet on the forum?? |

If you are looking at using yamaha, I would also recommend looking at Paradigm and Energy speakers as well. They blend better with Yamaha than the Klipsch IMHO. |

Paradigms or Energys would smooth out the Yamaha nicely. Yamaha and Klipsch together would only sound good if you like the sound of metal garbage cans being dragged down the street behind your car. |

Ravindra, Since you are saying HT, Klipsch reference are very very good for HT. If you plan to use it for music & HT, Paradigm studios can do a better job as they are more all round speakers. You can also make klipsch good for Music by adding some tube integrateds like Jolida / Sophia Electric at a later time for $400 on Audiogon. Also, for HT with klipsch...Yamaha is a bad choice. Harman kardon, Marantz are two lines that work better with Klipsch...even Pioneer. I am not sure what your budget is....But you can do better using some medium priced HT reciever from H/K and then add some pre-owned 3 channel amps from B&K / Parasound (from Audiogon) to create an awesome HT set-up. B&K and Parasound have very good synergy with Klipsch speakers. If you need more directed feedback, let folks know the budget you are working with and you will see some very nice suggestions from folks on this great forum. Mike |

I'm this close to buying the same speakers and receiver the original poster talks about. This is the first time I've run across someone saying that Yamaha receivers don't play well with Klipsch speakers, but this thread reads as if this were a commonly known thing. Could someone elaborate on this? Are there already threads that cover this I could be pointed to? |

certain yamaha receivers are on the bright side... likewise the same can be said about klipsch speakers. Supposedly the newer yamaha stuff isn't as bright, but the older stuff was terrible. |

Alex, Klipsch speakersa re dynamic and are on the brighter side. That siw hy they fit HT needs very very well. Majority of the Yamaha Recievers are also on the brighter side. That does not mean Yamaha recievers are bad...they do go well with some laid back speakers. But pairing up brighter yamahas with brighter klipsch will make the system sound too harsh. Mike |

My Yammie works well in the HT role which it is filling. But with older warmer sounding speakers (at least the mains) |
