Does anyone know of a receiver with an assignable set of speaker outputs that can be used to bi-amp the front speakers AND still have 7.1? All the ones I see have the bi-amp capability which uses the surround back for this and thus reduces your 7.1 to 5.1. I want both.

Erik, the last speakers are only a copy of the rears, which are in fact mixed mono. Dude, there are precious few soundtracks that are in 7.1.
It matters to you, as I read it, but it's just filler.
Use the power for the fronts, that is the real purpose anyhow.

What about the Dolby True-HD and DTS-HD audio formats? Aren't those 7.1 audio formats? I have a Blu-Ray player and the TV for this, just want to keep up with the sound.
