I'm planning to get the Sony LBT-ZX6 (link at bottom) and I was wondering how I could hook up a sub to it. Thanks for the help.

They're not. Shelf units are just that. They're great for dorm rooms and bedrooms and such but if you're looking for real deep bass something on your dresser won't cut it. I don't buy into the wattages these units boast so much cause to tell you the truth a decent 100w home stereo will out perform these 500w shelf units all day. Looking to add a sub to it adds to my point.
