I'm interested in getting sound in a 200'x30' hoop house (it's a horticultural research tunnel covered with plastic or the plastic can be removed so that it is open to the air). The sound quality does not have to be great, in fact, I can settle for rather low quality sound. I would like some advice on speaker placement, super inexpensive speakers and a simple radio/receiver that is semi-rugged to hook up to them. I also would like advice on speaker wire. I would really like to do this on an ultralow budget. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

As for a receiver, I'd checkout Craigslist or eBay, you should be able to find something decent for under $50.

If you're set on something new, then this Sherwood http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2407171 is a nice deal for $99., but I'd go with this Denon http://www.ecost.com/Detail.aspx?edp=40649998 for $93.

Thansk for all your help guys. I ended up going with:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006FK400
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem%26item%3D160221853665&ru=http%3A%2 F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26sa title%3D160221853665%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1
Total cost: Speakers were $28+ free shipping 2 days ago (price is now $32...not much different). Receiver $18.50+$25. Brings total cost to $71.50. I'll need to build a little box around the receiver to prevent condensation, but also allow for some circulation. Thanks for all your help, if everything arrives, hopefully I'll be set up this weekend.
