My girlfriend's father was cleaning out his basement today and found some speakers. He offered them to me for free, knowing I would take them off his hands.

He gave me three speakers: a great condition pair of vintage Electro-Voice SP8B 8" drivers, and a '60s-'70s 12" JBL Model D123 (the sticker says "James B. Lansing" and not JBL). It's got a dented dust cap, but otherwise is in good condition.

They all sound good, and they were free, so I can't complain. I think I'm going to work on making some cabinets for them and maybe use them with some old 12" RCA drivers that I got from his father awhile back.

If anyone's interested, I'll post some pics as I go.

I had no idea what JBL stood for until now.

Wikipedia is wonderful.

Too bad he didn't have an old set of La Scalas down there in the basement...

Finally got around to getting some pictures up. Go to http://members.cox.net/mwk206/index.htm to see them, but be warned: I didn't have time to resize them before I uploaded, so for now each picture is ~1MB and there are seven on the page.

Also, there's only one dent in the JBL dust cap; I just got pictures from two different angles.

What kind of gear are you gonna be driving your newly acquired speakers with?
