I have a 5 year old reference 30 pre-amp. Someone who knows about these things suggested that I send my unit in to B&K for a firmware upgrade (essentially to the audio processing of the reference 50), For this, they want $500. Any thoughts out there is to whether this is worth doing? Thanks |

Very good question. I've got one too and was wondering about firmware upgrades as well. I was also wondering why we cannot access the ADVANCED option under setup? My unit shows a key. With this option we could connect our units to the internet and receive the firmware upgrade without shipping the unit, right? |

I have a ref 30 that I upgraded to ref 31 (ref 50 spec) a couple years ago. Sound is about the same for TV/DVD, a little cleaner for music. The big thing is that it fixed most of the problems I had been having (clicks & dropouts). It was money well spent for me. Mike |
