I am looking for a 2-Channel 300 watts RMS/Channel receiver under $300 to power some Cerwin Vega VS 150's. I have looked for hours and can't find anything with these numbers. Does anyone have recommendations for what amp/receiver setup (under $300) I should use for these?

Doesn't that suggest something to you, Christian?

Why do you need 300 watts with CV's?

They are called out at 102db!
They could be powered by a potato.
Hit the pawn shop for a decent 100w amp.
And earplugs.

So all I need is a 100w receiver to make these puppies ring? Is that RMS or Pure wattage?

It's all the same man. Those speaker play so loud for the input, a 300w amp would just blow them up on a jag.
Look for a H/K receiver on a budget, a 3380 would do just fine.

The specs on these say the power handling is minimum 5 watts, maximum 400 watts.

Ignore that, it is useless print on a stupid tag.
For 3 skins, shop the used receiver aisle in a stereo shop.
Or see what is at the pawn shop and do a little research online.

A100w Yamaha and a 100w macintosh are NOT the same thing.

I'm really liking the Harman/Kardon 3485. Do these specs look promising?... 120 Watts per channel, 20Hz – 20kHz @ <0.07% THD, both channels driven into 8 ohms or
150 Watts per channel, 20Hz – 20kHz @ <0.2% THD, both channels driven into 4 ohms.

That receiver should drive the CV's to a very high level of volume in the average size room. If you require more power than that receiver supplies in the real world, you will need to look at a separate power amplifier and increase your budget five fold.

Buy the HK.

Yep. The HK and the CV's are a match made in college budget heaven.
Now feed the thing with a good source.Full sized files from a pc.
