Using info on earlier threads here, I have been attempting to breathe life back into my old Dual 505 turntable (Think it is 505-1?). When I manually depressed the microswitch I noted that the motor started to run - however I detected some smoke from the switch plate (circuit board) - pretty sure it was coming from the resistor R1. I think I should replace this resistor before I try again. Can anyone confirm ohms/watts this R1 should be. I think I can read 5Watt, and I think 5.1K (5K1). It does measure at 5.1K in circuit. thanks |

I would try Audiokarma...perhaps someone there will have a service manual or will have provided service to that table. There is a guy there on the Turntables and Tape forum, Fred Longworth, who is a service tech and very knowledgeable. Good luck, I have an old 505 which is working very nicely...good sounding entry level table. |
