I have a Yamaha HTR 5730 receiver and it's rated at 6 ohms. My friend just gave me some JBL speakers rated at 8 ohms. If I connect the speakers up, will it damage anything? Thanks for your help. |

No issues there, Byron. But if the receiver gets hot, or worse, shuts down, the lessons will commence. |

All things being equal, a higher rating makes the speaker easier to drive. So you should have no problems there. Of course it depnds a bit on the speakers, but the nominal 8-ohm rating means they don't go very low (which is harder for an amp to drive). Regards, Frank. |
