What cartridge have you been using? Do you wish to have the same character in your music or something different this time around?

Hi
I just bought the lp12.(i have 200 lps,the last table was thorens td126 with grado--sold it at 1986)
I have now 2 cd's-1.theta data basic 2+pro basic3(for classic and rock)
2.meridian 602+606 (for jazz)
I wonder if a good combination of cartridge for the lp12 will better those cd's.
cartridge budget:around 300$.

CHEERS.

IIRC, the Supex is traditionally a good match with the LP12/Grace combination, but of course this depends a bit on the quality of the phono stage in the partnering electronics. I am not familiar with the Denon step-up.

I am concerned about the suspension of the supex or the grace-will it degrade the sound quality?

The suspension? Why would you be concerned about the "suspension" of the cartridge? What exactly do you consider to be the "suspension" and how does it affect the sound in your opinion?

I know that over time, cartridge suspensions dry out.The suspension would go, long before the stylus went bad.
Maybe the problem is knowing which ones do and which ones don't. ;-)
Many cartridges can and do go bad over time. Parts that require some amount of flexibility (cantilevers) can dry out and become brittle destroying the sound.

I hope you never suffer from a dry cantilever, hh. I cannot offer the same feelings toward a flexible cantilever.

I don't know how the Kontrapunkt will work on a Grace. Never tried it! And I don't know the AT at all. Sorry, I can't help.
