I have a Onkyo Tx-sr602 reciever running my Cerwin vega se3000 speakers. I have just got a Cerwin Vega HT-110 unpowered subwoofer. My understanding is I can run it in line from my speakers but dont want to do that. I have a Yamaha RX-750 reciever that is a pre-amp. Can i use this to power the subwoofer? If so, what would be the proper way? Any help would be greatly apreciated. Cant find the manual for subwoofer but attaching the reciever manuals. Subwoofer has pos & neg spk terminals for both subwoofer in & satilite out. Also switch with crossover & bypass. thats for your help responsehttp://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/580/580TXS602S.PDFhttp://www.usersmanua lguide.com/yamaha_audio/am_-_fm_stereo_receivers/rx-750

The links seem rather worthless.

"I have a Yamaha RX-750 reciever that is a pre-amp."

No, it's not. It's a receiver. Does it have pre amp outputs? If not, then it can only be used as a receiver which gives you speaker level outputs. But using it as a receiver won't be of much value if you have the rest of your system connected to the Onkyo. And using it as a pre amp will not achieve any goals if the subwoofer doesn't have an amplifier that pre amp could drive.

"My understanding is I can run it in line from my speakers but dont want to do that."

If you have no other amplifier you can attach to this subwoofer, you have only one other choice. Buy a new subwoofer that works properly with the Onkyo receiver. Otherwise, you should make the hook up as CV intended which is apparently by way of the speaker outputs of your main receiver.

Hi Ken. take the tape out of the Onkyo and input the other receiver as aux in.
Ust the left side of the Yammy to power the sub for now.
Set the Yammy as neutral tonals to start off.

I have done this before, you will draw your own conclusions in short order.
The Yamaha will last about 5 minutes before shutting down.

Tape output is not affected by the main receiver's volume control. The output of the Yamaha will not change according to the volume level changes made on the Onkyo. You would have to change the volume on the Yamaha each time you changed volume on the main receiver. This is pretty kludged for just five minutes of music at a time.

Buy the right stuff.

Thanks all & pardon the lack of knowlege.
I thought the manual showed the pre out coupled to the main in Jan. Would I not just pull the couplers out . Then run preamp out of Onkyo to cd in on Yamaha? The sudwoofer only has one pos & neg input. Can this be achieved or is it not possible. If Yamaha can be used as preamp, how would I hookup both sides to one set of pos-neg on sub. Does it have to be run out of preout rca jacks? I got the sub from a pawnshop cheap. It works, but want to try use equipment I already have for the time being. Thanks again for any info.
